FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

What are iStickUPs?

iStickUPs are photo-quality wall stickers or wall murals that will spice up your home, office, family room, bedroom, dorm room or almost any other room. You can upload your own photos or pick from our photo gallery. We print the photos on high quality durable vinyl. You are essentially buying a premium quality photo enlargement.

Where can I put my iStickUP?

iStickUP vinyl will stick to most smooth surfaces. We recommend a smooth painted wall surface – but you can also apply it to doors, wallpaper, glass and metal surfaces. Keep in mind that it is harder to remove and reposition the iStickUP from a hard, smooth surface like glass or metal. On a painted wall surface it is very easy to remove and reposition the vinyl. The pigment ink on your iStickUP is very durable; however, it is best to stay away from areas where the image would get wet, like outdoors or in bathrooms.

Is it difficult to apply an iStickUP?

No, not at all. For detailed instructions on applying an iStickUP, please see iStickUP Application Tips. A few things to remember: (1) Painted surfaces are easier to work with than glass or metal surfaces. (2) Get someone to help you. (3) Follow the included instructions. Don’t go “Rambo” on your iStickUP – you won’t like the outcome, and you’ll get mad at us.

How do I prepare the wall for my iStickUP?

On a painted area, always make sure that the paint has cured completely according to the paint manufacturer’s recommendations. On all surfaces, the area where the vinyl will be applied should be cleaned with a light cleaning solution, wiped down with water and allowed to dry before application. You should also measure your wall area before removing the backing from your iStickUP, just to be sure.

Will you let me know when you print my iStickUP?

We will email you when we print your iStickUP, and then again when we ship your iStickUP. Your shipping email will include your tracking number.

How soon will I get my iStickUP?

We will usually print your iStickUP within 2 days after receiving your order. We ship via FedEx Ground and, depending on your location, you should receive your iStickUP within about 2-5 business days after we ship it.

I'm in a hurry, can you rush my order?

Yes we can. For an additional 25% of the cost of your order, we will provide 24-hour processing. Rush delivery is extra; however we also offer next-day or second-day shipping upgrades. So, if you are in a real hurry, we can get your iStickUP to you within a couple of days.

How durable is an iStickUP?

Like any photo enlargement, iStickUPs are printed with water-based ink. The vinyl will last a long, long time. As long as the image doesn’t experience too much trauma (water, scratching, etc.), it should last for many years. If the vinyl backing loses its tackiness on the edges, you can spray it with a multipurpose adhesive and reapply it to the wall. You can purchase adhesive from us, or at any craft store.

How do I clean my iStickUP?

Your iStickUP should ONLY be dusted. Do not use any liquid to clean it. If it gets wet and you need to dry it, dab it carefully with paper towels or a clean rag. Never wipe a wet cloth across the surface.

How hard is it to remove an iStickUP when I'm done with it?

Removing an iStickUP is very easy. Just slide your fingernail under a corner and begin carefully pulling the vinyl away from the wall. If you want to re-use the iStickUP later, it is critical that you take your time on this step. Also, if you are planning on re-using the iStickUP, you should keep the backing paper and store the iStickUP on its original backing paper. If you apply the vinyl to glass, metal or any other non-porous surface, removing the vinyl will probably disfigure it significantly. More than likely, you won’t be able to re-use your iStickUP. You will, however, be able to remove it without leaving any residue and without damaging the finish of the surface.

If I mail you a photograph, can you scan it and reproduce it?

Not at this time. We would love to make an iStickUP from your photo. If you can get the image scanned (most print shops will do this for a couple of bucks), then you can upload the photo to us and we’ll get started. Remember to have it scanned in high resolution!

How good is the image resolution?

The only limitation on image resolution is the clarity of the image you provide to us. The printer we use prints in 2400×1200 dpi (dots per inch). That’s a lot of dots! The human eye cannot distinguish detail beyond 300 dpi, so the image quality is amazing.

I have a low resolution photo – will it look crappy?

Not at all. Higher resolution obviously means better detail, but we all have great vintage or lo-res images that are very valuable to us. We can increase the resolution of your photo. Of course there are limitations to the detail we can pull out of a lo-res image; but even if the photo isn’t of the highest resolution, the finished product is still awesome. Usually you’ll look at your iStickUP from a distance. Don’t worry about resolution. If you have a photo you want to stick-up, we can make it look great!

Can you print an image of a professional athlete, race car, or famous person?

If you own a photo (you either took the photo or purchased the rights), we can print an iStickUP for your personal use. If in doubt, please see the detailed guidelines in our Terms and Conditions.

Can I change my order?

We would have a really hard time selling a life-sized picture of your Uncle Sid to someone else. If you really need to change your order, contact us immediately to see if your photo has been printed. If it has not, and we can change your order, we will be happy to accommodate you. If, on the other hand, we have already printed your iStickUP, we cannot change your order and it will be completed and shipped as you originally ordered it.

Can I return/exchange my iStickUP?

Please see our Return Policy.

Do you guarantee your product?

Absolutely! Everything we print is guaranteed to satisfy. We also guarantee that your iStickUP will be free from defects, and that the photo will be printed exactly as you ordered it.

Why does file uploading not work in the new Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard?

File uploading was broken in the brand new Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, publicly released on Oct. 26 2007, due to a problem with a version of Adobe’s Flash Player. Adobe subsequently, made a beta release available that specifically addressed this issue, before they made their official release of the next version. You can download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player here

or go to:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

For more specific information on this subject go here.

Since this posting Adobe has also released the next offcial version of Flash player. If uploading does not work on Mac OS X Leopard then either install the above Flash player version or the latest version of Flash Player directly from Adobe.
